Q:
Will my child catch up without speech and language therapy input?

A:
Children do develop at different rates, but if you have concerns, it is important to talk to someone about it.  Research shows that early intervention is so important for children in the run-up to starting school.

A:
Online speech and language therapy allows you and your child to have therapy in a convenient, cosy place (your home!) and at a time that suits you and your child.

Therapy aims to use play-based ideas to help engage and support your little one to develop their communication. This may be through online games with your child or by parent consultations, supporting you to use strategies every day that are recognised to help speech and language development. This is called Parent-Child Interaction (PCI).

All of the advice and activities provided are the same as those you would be given in face-to-face consultations.

A:
Yes, research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for a variety of communication difficulties, such as speech sound problems and language difficulties.  Additional benefits include:

  • No need to spend time travelling to an appointment

  • Some people find it easier to engage online

  • Easier for people who live in remote areas to access speech and language therapy

  • Convenient for families with busy schedules

I feel that children learn best from the people who know and love them - that's you! So I feel like my role is to guide you with strategies and activities to help your child to flourish.
